Windsufring
Turkey's Aegean shores are among the best windsurfing areas in the Mediterranean. Several locations along Turkey's Aegean coast draw the attention of windsurfers from all around the world because of their excellent conditions. The region enjoys an exceptionally mild climate, with soft springs, hot summers, sunny autumns and warm winters with just occasional rain showers. For windsurfing and sun-bathing summer months are ideal.
The bays around Bodrum, Cesme, and Datca peninsulas, as well as Antalya, have ideal wind conditions for windsurfing or sailboarding. Prime among them is Alaçati, at the tip of the Çesme peninsula west of Izmir. Alacati has a shallow area that extends several hundred meters out from the beach. It's windy all the time, especially in the summer and the wind will blow for a large part of the day, the strongest being in the afternoon. The flat water along with lack of tides or currents, create a perfect place to improve your techniques, speed surfing and freestyle, which make Alacati a windsurfing paradise. In Bodrum the season runs from late May to Early November with the strongest winds being in June through September. Temperatures are hot and the sea is warm all the time, except during the nights of the first few weeks at the beginning and end of the season. Another surfing location is Teos which is located on the west coast south of Izmir and is a great place for beginners and others that need to acquire better techniques.
