Damlatas Cave

Damlatas Cave has been accidentally discovered in 1948 by men working in the Alanya harbor. After geological analysis, the cave is said to have existed for more that 15 thousand years. Situated on the end of the west beach, Damlatas Cave contains huge stalactites and stalagmites some of which nearly 15m long, hence came its name that literally means "limestone formation".

Inside the Damlatas Cave the temperature remains constant at about 22°C throughout the whole year. Due to its humidity reaching 90%, the Damlatas Cave is often suggested treatment of respiratory problems. Also, the radioactivity and the high amounts of carbon dioxide in the air inside the cave make it popular among the locals suffering from asthma or bronchitis.
